The Project Takes Shape with the Release of the Original Sketch

Ogoe Beer is a small craft brewery in Ogoe Town, Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture. It began brewing in spring 2024 and, as Sakaide City's first brewery, has continued making beers that make use of locally sourced adjunct ingredients. In this post, the brewery reported progress on its brewery exterior mural project.

According to the post, the crowdfunding campaign drew support from 19 people totaling more than 300,000 yen within five days of launch. While it says there is still a long way to go before reaching the goal, it also states that it plans to report on the production process step by step starting this week, suggesting an approach of growing the project together with supporters and fans while sharing updates along the way.

This time, the feature introduced was the first original sketch for the exterior mural by artist Bernard James. The theme is "sea, sky, and earth," and attention will be on how this work world, centered on natural elements, will unfold across the brewery's wall. It is said to be planned for the upper right side of the building, making it something to look forward to while imagining the finished result.

Ogoe Beer’s guiding concept is "beer × art × town building." Rather than simply delivering a product, it aims to rediscover the charms of the local area and create a place where people gather and conversations are born. Set against the backdrop of Ogoe Town’s landscape, this attempt to layer craft beer and a mural is also interesting as an effort to make the brewery itself a hub for local outreach.
