Kens Brewery to serve commemorative beer "Kankreki Green" on Aug. 2
Kens Brewery in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, will tap a commemorative beer called “Kankreki Green” on August 2 to celebrate “Midori-chan,” who has supported the brewery since its earliest days. The same day also includes “Hiroko’s Summer Party” and a test sale of Shakapann.
Kens Brewery is a craft-beer bar in Yabe, Chuo Ward, Sagamihara. Its official site says the bar typically keeps about eight craft beers on tap and also serves dishes featuring local ingredients, including Koza pork. The business opened in 2022 and began serving its own house-brewed beers in 2024, building a neighborhood-style brewery with a local identity.
The new tap, “Kankreki Green,” is a commemorative beer created for “Midori-chan,” who has supported the brewery since the beginning. In its announcement, the brewery said that August 2 will already feature “Hiroko’s Summer Party” and a test sale of Shakapann, while this beer will be another major highlight of the day. It is a straightforward but meaningful way to mark a personal milestone in the middle of normal service.
Kens Brewery has long emphasized craft beer paired with local food. For regular customers, that makes a beer like this feel less like a one-off novelty and more like part of the brewery’s ongoing story. On August 2, visitors can expect a day where beer, food, and small event programming come together in a way that fits the brewery’s local, community-oriented character.
