A new black saison from Noroshi Brewery
Noroshi Brewery has announced the release of Noroshi India Black Saison, a new beer brewed in Nagareyama, Chiba. It follows the well-received India Black Lager, released around winter, while taking the concept in a different direction rather than reproducing the earlier beer.
The recipe is based on a classic American Black IPA. Simcoe, Centennial, CTZ, and Amarillo hops bring notes of pine, citrus, and grapefruit. Carafa Special III and Black Malt contribute the beer’s dark color and roasted malt aroma.
Dark in appearance, dry and lively on the palate
India Black Saison is listed at 6.5% ABV with 2.5 volumes of carbonation. Its aroma layers the roastiness of dark malt with classic American hop character, while saison yeast adds a spicy, dry fermentation profile.
Despite its nearly black appearance, the beer is designed to drink lightly and finish dry. The alcohol level provides substance, but the roast, hop character, and saison fermentation remain clearly defined without making the beer feel heavy.
The result sits between several familiar categories: black beer, American IPA, and saison. At Noroshi Brewery in the Nagareyama-Otakanomori area, beer drinkers can look forward to exploring how these elements meet in a single glass.
