At Chigasaki beer pub "HOP MAN," Kyoto Brewing’s "Natsu no Kimagure" has just been tapped. The bar is located on the second floor of Sun Rise Shonan, and it’s a neighborhood spot where you can take your time enjoying guest beers.
What’s on tap this time is the summer version of Kyoto Brewing’s "Kimagure" series. Its English name is Natsu no Kimagure. The style is Session IPA, with an ABV of 4.5%, IBU of 45, and a gas volume of 2.65. It’s designed to be easygoing on the palate while still letting the character of the hops come through clearly.
In the tasting notes, the beer is described as having a faint spice character from oats, along with passion fruit, white grape, and berry nuances brought out by a carefully selected hop blend, plus a vivid citrus impression of lemon and lime. The malt bill is centered on oats, with Pilsner and dextrin malt added to achieve a soft, silky mouthfeel and a pale, hazy appearance. Motueka and Mosaic are blended for the hops, and Fantasm (grape skin) is added in the whirlpool to intensify the tropical aroma.
This beer balances summertime drinkability with juicy hop character, so it also looks like a great IPA to sip slowly in the heat. If you’re looking for guest beers in Chigasaki, HOP MAN’s tap lineup is worth keeping an eye on.
