Sakaduki Brewing in Tokyo's Adachi Ward has finished 'Kuwakaburuu,' a collaboration beer for beetle fans. In the Instagram caption, the beer is introduced as the brewery's 'leaf-mold beer,' and it comes from a project with Daisuke Mimori, who runs the YouTube channel 'Kuwakabu no Heya.' It was announced in the brewery's August 7 tap lineup and is also being offered as a crowdfunding reward.
The beer is built around the image of a summer broadleaf forest where stag beetles and rhinoceros beetles live. Sakaduki Brewing describes it with roasted oak-like aroma, a maple-like sweetness, and a red-brown color that evokes tree sap. The idea is not just to drink the beer, but to make the process and the story around it part of the appeal.
That same day's tap board was wide-ranging, with beers such as 'shy girl,' '日々淡々,' '木洩れ日,' '初心・ヴァイツェン,' 'KISS ME,' 'Heat stroke,' and 'Pink Boots Collab. Brew -蒼-,' while '時間泥棒' had already sold out. For a brewery based in Adachi Ward, 'Kuwakaburuu' stands out as one of the most concept-driven beers in a busy lineup.
The crowdfunding reward is listed through September 30. Sources: Instagram post / Campfire project
