New tap: Nara Brewing’s ENNUI

HOP MAN, a beer pub in Jokenzaka, Chigasaki, has put Nara Brewing’s ENNUI on tap. The beer is a Brown Ale w/Azuki & Condensed Milk, with 5.5% ABV and 7 IBU. It is a distinctive brown ale built around azuki, condensed milk, and lactose.

According to the post, the beer opens with a gentle azuki aroma and brings a subtle condensed-milk sweetness on the palate. In the 2026 version, lactose adds depth to the sweetness, while a restrained amount of hop character keeps it from feeling overly soft. Yeast-derived English ale notes then lift out of the glass, leaving a finish that balances sweetness, roast, and nuance.

Nara Brewing is known for using craft beer’s flexibility to explore unusual ingredient combinations without losing drinkability. ENNUI follows that approach closely, turning a familiar dessert-like idea into something that still feels like a brown ale. The result appears to be a calm, slightly nostalgic beer with enough structure to stay interesting.

HOP MAN is a second-floor beer pub near Chigasaki Station, and it is the kind of place where guest taps keep the lineup changing. For drinkers looking to try a brown ale with a different angle, this is an easy one to watch for.
