Hop BroThe first fresh one I'd point to is And Beer & Mitaka Yamaneko Brewery's Azarashi Pilsner Okawari. It's a 5.5% pilsner, basically built for that opening pint.
MugiWhoa, but why is pilsner always called a first-beer style? I hear that all the time, but I still only half get it!
Hop BroBecause it's a crisp lager with clean bitterness and an easy-drinking finish. If I get nerdy, it's bottom-fermented, but in normal language, it's the honor student you can chug.
MugiBottom-fermented? That escalated quickly into science class! But the honor-student part weirdly makes perfect sense to me.
Hop BroThe other new pours are fun too: Daisen G Beer has India Pale Saison, and Minamiaizu Mountain brings GION Omatsuri IPA. That's saison brightness next to IPA hop punch, which is a great side-by-side.
MugiOoh, and if Sanktgallen's Amber Ale is on too, that means there's a toasty option in the mix. LIGHTLINE SaisonIPA at 3.8% also sounds friendly for pacing!
Hop BroAnd the holdover taps are strong. Beer Hearn has weizenBock with honey, and Ushitora Brewery's Sen no Sake ni Natte is a 12.0% Quadruple IPA, which is absolutely final-boss territory.
MugiSeriously? Quadruple IPA already sounds dangerous, and weizenbock sounds like somebody cast a spell at the bar. Plus there's Schwarz too? That's too much delicious information!
Hop BroWeizenbock is a richer, wheat-forward strong beer, while Schwarz can be dark but light-bodied at the same time. Add in the honey note and that fruit-and-spice sour ale, and you've got a full mood board on tap.
