Two beers showcasing Iki ingredients

Craft Beer Scissors Akihabara, a beer pub in Tokyo’s Taito Ward, is serving two beers from Island Brewery.

SUNFLOWER ALE uses sake yeast collected from sunflowers at Tokyo University of Agriculture. It is described as aromatic, lightly sweet, and mellow, making it a beer suited to slow, relaxed drinking.

YUZU-KOJI ALE combines the juice and peel of Iki-grown yuzu with white koji used for Iki shochu. Bright and refreshing, it is one of the pub’s most popular regular beers and is among the few yuzu beers available year-round in Japan.

A varied guest-beer lineup

The September 7 tap list includes SIEMÀN from Hop&Steve, IBUKI HOP IPA from Zumona Beer, and Tōi Aki, a collaboration between Zumona Beer and Craft Beer Scissors Akihabara. Baird Brewing’s Public House Bitter and Senba Brewery’s Okawari Kölsch are also listed.

Other pours include Natsuyuki and Kinome from Taifū Zōshu, Vit Natt IPA from Minoh Beer and BREWSKI, Mutations from Teenage Brewing and ANTELOPE, and ILA from Birra Perugia.

The post also mentions Asahi Stout, whose discontinuation is approaching. Some stock remains, offering drinkers a chance to enjoy it slowly while it lasts.
