In the latest tap update published on February 27 by HOP TAP SHOP, a craft beer hub in Takaoka, Toyama, two cross-collaboration beers from Kyoto Brewing and Inkhorn Brewing were tapped at the same time. The biggest highlight of the day is the chance to compare two very different styles side by side: Black IPA "Jihishinchou" and Hazy Double IPA "Yotei Chowa".
The post announced that "six taps are opening all at once starting today," bringing the bar to a full 10-tap lineup. The new additions include MAHOWBREW's Imperial Gose "Ophelia", OUR BREWING's West Coast IPA "Dino King", WCB's International Pilsner "McKenzie Pils", and Swan Lake's Golden Ale "Golden Swan Lake Ale", creating a broad selection ranging from modern IPAs to crisp pilsners and sour styles.
Also listed as available are Ooyama's "Weizenbock," Yamorido's "Cha Kabuki," Johana Beer "Mukaino Sakura Peach Tea," and Onidensetsu's "Kinki Pale Ale JRA SP ver." Meanwhile, Matsumoto Brewery's "Castle Stout" is explicitly noted as not yet tapped at this point and planned for a later date, reflecting the shop's live, ever-changing tap flow that updates depending on when you visit.
HOP TAP SHOP's appeal lies in the chance to follow notable beers from breweries across Japan in a calm neighborhood setting. It looks like a reliable choice for an evening spent slowly comparing one glass at a time in Takaoka.
