At the beer pub TAP&CROWLER in Shibuya Ward's Udagawacho, a launch event and Tap Takeover for Ujoten Brewing's "AUTUMN LEAVES -BARREL AGED-" have been announced. From the shop's post, it appears to be a project centered on an anniversary beer, making it highly relevant for craft beer fans.

The base beer, "Autumn Leaves / Autumn Leaves," is an amber lager. At 6.0% ABV and 30 IBU, it combines a full body built with several Belgian malts with aromas reminiscent of toast, caramel, and biscuit. Using Aurora and Styrian Golding hops, along with Urkel yeast, it is designed to balance the clean character typical of a lager with gentle fruit notes and a firm bitterness.

Its name comes from the jazz standard "Autumn Leaves." True to that name, its amber color evokes autumn foliage, and its calm malt character leaves a strong impression. Rather than pushing with flashy aromatics, it feels like a beer best enjoyed slowly as the temperature changes. TAP&CROWLER sits in the center of Shibuya, yet it has the relaxed atmosphere of a beer pub where you can take your time with a glass, so it seems like a good match for a malt-driven beer like this.

The main attraction this time is the barrel-aged version, but if you know the base beer first, it becomes easier to appreciate the differences. Including the somewhat unusual angle of a Belgian lager, this is a beer worth trying in Shibuya as an opportunity to experience a clearly conceived creation.
