Bibibi., a craft beer pub in Daikanyama, Tokyo, is currently introducing Wayfarer Brewing as one of its breweries on tap.

Wayfarer Brewing Company was founded in 2023 by Matt Boyd and Yuki. Matt is from Australia, while Yuki is a native of Kochi. The brewery was created by renovating part of a factory owned by Yuki’s family in Nankoku, Kochi.

Nankoku sits next to Kochi City and serves as the gateway to Tosa, with Kochi Ryoma Airport located in the city. The area is also known for historical sites connected with Ki no Tsurayuki and Chosokabe Motochika. Drawn to Nankoku’s water and atmosphere, Matt moved there after working as an English teacher in Chiba. His interest in brewing dates back to his university years in Australia, when he belonged to a brewing club.

Freshness is central to Wayfarer Brewing’s approach. The brewery sources hops itself and grows some of them locally, putting careful thought into both ingredients and recipes. “Wayfarer” means “traveler,” an apt name for a brewery with a pub function that could easily become a destination for beer-minded visitors to Kochi.

Bibibi. is an approachable standing bar where guests can enjoy Japanese craft beer alongside the stories of the people who make it. Its intimate atmosphere makes it easy to visit alone, offering a chance to taste Wayfarer Brewing’s beers on tap while learning about the couple and the place behind them. The source article does not specify individual beer names, styles, or the service period.
