ISANA Brewing has tapped its new beer, “惚鍾-NASINOKAZE-.” Classified as a pear saison, the beer has an ABV of 4.5% and an IBU of 14.

The brew uses pears from Ibaraki Prefecture, including 150 kilograms of fragrant pears. Its profile centers on the fruit’s fresh aroma and gentle juiciness, while Shizuoka green tea and Rishiri kombu dashi add a subtle Japanese character. The result is designed to offer more than straightforward fruit sweetness, with tea-like freshness and savory depth supporting the pear.

According to ISANA Brewing, the beer represents its largest-ever fruit-juice challenge. The brewery describes the green tea and kombu dashi as hidden flavors that contribute a soft finish beneath the pear’s bright aroma.

Based in Akishima, Tokyo, ISANA Brewing has operated as a brewery and roastery since May 2018. It brews original craft beer using Akishima’s deep underground water and serves it alongside house-roasted coffee and food. The taproom is about a three-minute walk from the south exit of Akishima Station on the JR Ome Line.

The brewery’s announcement also suggests enjoying the beer on the bench in front of the shop. For drinkers interested in unusual Japanese-inspired saisons, “NASINOKAZE” offers an opportunity to explore how pear, green tea, and kombu umami can come together in one glass.
