The beer pub Beer O'clock in the Chiba Station area of Chiba announced the day's new tap lineup in a March 29 post, alongside notice that it would be open on Monday. True to the shop's easy stop-in style with all-day service, the lineup made it natural to enjoy everything from lunch to a night drink.

Two guest beers were featured that day.

- Song Bird Beer 'L'orage' (Belgian Brown / 5.5%)
A brown ale with a name that means "thunderstorm" in French. The notice described it as layered with a nutty aroma, yeast-derived fullness, and a sweetness and bitterness reminiscent of bittersweet chocolate, finishing dry. It has solid depth without being too heavy, making it an easy style to pair with food.

- Shiga Kogen Beer 'SNOW MONKEY IPA' (Hazy IPA / 6.0%)
An IPA born from the SNOW MONKEY BEER LIVE event. The post highlighted subtle tropical notes like passion fruit and white peach, along with the soft sweetness typical of a Hazy IPA and the pleasant bitterness that Beer O'clock is known for. It seems like a beer whose character changes as you keep drinking.

On the food side, the lunch weekly pasta special was changed to "Spaghetti with today's fresh fish and squid ink." It is also interesting to think about how the seafood umami and the richness of the squid ink will pair with the beer's bitterness and aroma. A setup that keeps beer as the star while also considering compatibility with the food is a welcome one for craft beer fans.

The post also included information about the April 11 "Belgian Beer Weekend with Kinki Goto-san." Beer O'clock is clearly a place worth following not just for tap turnover, but also for events and daily food suggestions. If you're looking for guest beers in Chiba, this is one place to check first.
