Beer pub NEIGHBOR in Nogata, Nakano, has marked its second-anniversary celebration. This year’s theme is “passion,” and the event reflects the shop’s path from its early days of trial and error to a place now enjoyed by regulars and first-time visitors alike.

The centerpiece is NEIGHBOR×VERTERE Pyracantha / NZ Pale Ale (5.5%), a collaboration brewed with the staff at VERTERE in Okutama, Tokyo. The beer is described with bright grapefruit-like citrus, hints of white grape and herbs, a light mouthfeel, and a crisp finish. Its fresh, grassy aroma in the aftertaste makes it an easy-drinking anniversary pour.

Also on tap are NEIGHBOR×CYCADBREWING HOT BLOOD IPA / West Coast IPA (7.5%) and NEIGHBOR×Bighand bros. VANADINITE / Mexican Light Lager (4.5%). Together they cover a wide range, from hop-forward IPA to a lighter lager that should be easy to drink across a long session.

To mark the occasion, the shop is also selling original fire-pattern socks for 2,500 yen including tax. With reservations already close to full, anyone interested would be wise to check early. For a neighborhood beer pub, the celebration looks built around exactly what matters most: fresh collaboration beer and a reason to raise a glass.
