TK Brewing in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, announced three beers as this week's new releases. The lineup consists of #449 "Kawasakey", #450 "Teardrop Amber", and #451 "Pomona Rendezvous". Each comes in a distinct style, offering a lineup that shows the range of the brewery's hop use and malt design.
This Week's New Releases
#449 Kawasakey 5.0% IBU 28
A Red Ale. It is said brewing began after Kilkenny was discontinued, and it has been finished as a red ale centered on a malty drinking experience. While returning to the original Kawasakey concept, it uses Sabro and Sorachi Ace. It's the kind of beer that makes you want to compare it with the East Kent Golding version of the English traditional take and see which you prefer.
#450 Teardrop Amber 5.5% IBU 52
An American Amber. Brewed with five kinds of malt in pursuit of a layered flavor, it comes together as a firmly bitter amber. Hops are Columbus, Amarillo, and Simcoe. It is also a revival of a beer they made before, and you can see a composition that keeps both a classic direction and a modern hop character in mind.
#451 Pomona Rendezvous 6.5% IBU -
This New England IPA is a new release leaning into the hazy style that has been popular in recent years. Featuring the American hops Elani and Krush, it brings together two hops that each have a character strong enough to stand on their own, creating overlapping impressions of orange, apricot, mango, and pineapple, along with citrus notes and even a peachy character from the yeast. Its positioning as an evolution of #442 "Hop Rendezvous" is also intriguing.
TK Brewing is a brewery that continues to make beers that clearly define each style within the atmosphere of Kawasaki as a city. These three also place a Red Ale and Amber that let you enjoy malt depth alongside a NEIPA that puts hop aroma front and center, clearly conveying the fun of side-by-side tasting. The lineup works well not only as a post-holiday pint, but also for lining up several bottles in the shop and comparing the differences in flavor.
