Honey Forest Brewing, which brews in Minamiosumi Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, announced on Instagram that it will set up a booth at “Kyushu Pottery Procession in Kushima,” which has begun in Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture.

The brewery is introduced on its official website as “a craft beer workshop run by a female brewer in Minamiosumi Town, the southernmost town on Japan’s mainland.” Its flagship product is the fruit beer “Sun Sun ALE,” made with fresh locally grown fruit and multifloral honey from Japanese honeybees that the brewery collects itself, and its hallmark is a brewing style that makes the most of local ingredients.

In the post, the event was announced for Saturday, May 30 through Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. The venues are the Former Yoshimatsu Residence (next to Kushima City Hall) and Michi-no-Eki Kushima. At the venue, the brewery will offer craft beer on two draft taps as well as six types of bottles for takeout.

The post also said that soft drinks will be prepared in plenty so that visitors who do not drink beer can still enjoy the event. Because temperatures are expected to rise, the brewery urged attendees to take precautions against the heat, and noted that the Minamiosumi Town shop will be temporarily closed on May 30 and 31 due to the event.

For a brewery that has long made use of Minamiosumi Town’s citrus and honey, this booth is likely to be a place to convey the region’s character directly. At the venue, visitors will be able to compare different pours and experience the distinct personality of craft beer rooted in the local area.
