CIDER SHACK, a beer pub in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward, is continuing the second half of its 6th anniversary event. According to the post, the bar is currently pouring 13 by-the-glass selections centered on Le Vins Vivants cider and wine, including bottles aged for six years. The lineup also includes vintage comparisons, giving guests a chance to taste how the same cider changes over time.

The bar says it especially likes Le Vins Vivants for its simple apple-only approach, without other fruit or adjuncts. That focus makes the current lineup interesting both as vertical tastings of the same label across vintages and as horizontal tastings across different bottles from the same vintage.

From June 5 to June 6, CIDER SHACK will switch gears to a six-tap MATSUMOTO BREWERY takeover. Katsuyama is expected to visit on June 5, which is described as the moving day and a kind of pre-party. The bar says it has stocked more than six kegs, so the six taps should be maintained throughout the event.

Food pairings are part of the program as well: sweets made with Castle Stout by Sugarilo and Aomori-style home cooking by Miho Kanze are planned during the event period. For a venue that is already known for cider and beer, this anniversary stretch looks like a chance to move between cider, wine, and craft beer in one place.
