Five draft beers, including SORACHI 1984, tapped in Hirakata

On May 16, The Beer Shop Hirakata city in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture, introduced new draft beers. In an Instagram post, the shop announced it was bringing in Sapporo Beer’s “SORACHI 1984” as a draft beer with the message, “Last SORACHI!” The SORACHI stock purchased during Golden Week was down to its final keg, and this tap opening put it on the bar that day.

That day’s lineup consisted of Sapporo Beer’s “Kuro Label,” West Coast Brewing’s “Starwatcher,” Hirakata Beer’s “Session Citra White,” Craft Beer Base’s “Mix Juicy,” and “SORACHI 1984.” The selection ranged from a classic lager to hop-forward labels and local Hirakata originals, making it easy to choose according to your mood. The post described “SORACHI 1984” as featuring woody, piney aromas and flavor, with a drinking impression that is not overly heavy.

The Beer Shop Hirakata city is a craft beer specialty shop that opened in 2022. Located on the third floor of Hirakata Sun Plaza Building No. 3, directly connected to Keihan Hirakata City Station, the shop is centered on a counter and standing tables, making it easy to drop by for just one drink after work. Pairing beer with the in-house smoked foods from the adjacent Hirakata Smokehouse broadens the enjoyment even further. It is a convenient place both for takeout and for drinking on the spot, with a distinctly Hirakata feel.
