KAMIKATZ Beer, the brewpub in Kamikatsu, Tokushima, has reframed the concept behind its barrel-aged series `THE BARREL`. In its June 7 Instagram post, the brewery said the project was rebuilt around circularity rather than consumption, connecting stories of people, place, and culture through each barrel.

That fits the venue itself: KAMIKATZ operates in a town known for zero-waste thinking, with a brewery built from reused materials and a setting that includes a BBQ restaurant and lodging. The barrel-aged beers are not just a style exercise; the wood, and even the spirits that once rested in the casks, shape the final profile and give each batch a distinct character.

The broader lineup is also varied. `KAMIKATZ PALE ALE`, `KAMIKATZ WHITE` with yuzu-kyo peel, `Yamainudake`, `reRise PALE ALE`, the lacto-fermented sour `BEYOND THE SEA`, and `KAMIKATZ MORNING SAUNNER` are all part of the brewery's range. At the center of this post is `THE BARREL Kanosuke Double IPA 3-Month Aged`, matured in a wooden cask that once held whisky at a distillery in Kagoshima.

Reservations for `THE BARREL Kanosuke Double IPA 3-Month Aged` open on June 12 at RISE & WIN's Kamikatsu and Tokyo locations, as well as the KAMIKATZ online store.
