Guest Beer Info from the March 16 Post

In Half Yard Shiki's latest update, two guest beers were introduced. One is BrewDog's "Wingman", and the other is Ise Kadoya Beer's "Imperial Red Ale". Both have clearly defined personalities, making them a pair that is easy to structure into an evening of drinking.

First, Wingman is making a long-awaited return as a popular session IPA. The post emphasized its refreshing hop aroma reminiscent of lemon candy, light drinkability, and dry finish. Since it is the kind of beer that goes down through aroma and crispness rather than alcohol weight, it is an easy first pour and the sort of beer that keeps the glasses moving at a lively pace while you talk.

By contrast, Imperial Red Ale centers on its deep reddish appearance and a bitterness impact of IBU 85. The post also highlighted it as the "No. 1 revived fan vote" pick, and its appeal lies in the way its malt richness supports the bitterness. Pair it with food that has a strong flavor, such as meat dishes, and the beer's outline becomes even more pronounced.

Half Yard Shiki is a beer pub in the Shiki area on the Tobu Tojo Line where you can take your time choosing craft beer. Its tucked-away location on the 3rd floor of the Hayashi Building adds to the hidden-gem feel, and its strength is the pleasure of comparing everything from light IPA to full-bodied red ale on the same taps. It looks like it will be a night where you can choose according to your mood: start with aroma, or go in hard with bitterness.
