At MOKICHI KAMAKURA (Hase, Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture), Kumazawa Sake Brewery's limited beer "Kataura Lemon Ale" will be served from April 9.

The restaurant is a beer pub housed in an impressive brick building renovated from the former Kanagawa Prefectural Kamakura Booster Pump Station. In contrast to its solid exterior, the interior has an open feel, and its defining feature is the chance to enjoy dishes made with herbs and fermented ingredients from the brewery. The basement also houses a direct sales shop stocked with Kumazawa Sake Brewery's sake, beer, and craft gin, so you can choose from a wide selection of the brewery's drinks to accompany your meal.

This limited beer, "Kataura Lemon Ale," was introduced on MOKICHI KAMAKURA's Instagram. It is a fruit ale made with malt, hops, lemon peel, and lemon juice. It makes generous use of "Shonan Shiosai lemons" grown in the Kataura area of Odawara City, and has an alcohol content of 5.0%. The hops used are Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado, creating a design in which citrus aroma and lemon-derived acidity overlap.

The official website also lists "Kataura Lemon Ale" as a Kumazawa Sake Brewery beer, positioning it as one of the local products that make use of regional citrus. If you are thinking about food pairings, it is the kind of beer you will want to try with standard dishes such as fresh fish carpaccio or a platter of Mokichi wurst sausages. It is just the right time to enjoy a seasonal drink in the middle of a stroll around Kamakura.
