Hongo Kikusaka-cho Camos, a small urban brewery and beer stand in Hongo, Bunkyo, Tokyo, has published a new Instagram post. Opening with the friendly greeting “Hello, this is Hongo Kikusaka-cho Camos🍻,” the post reflects the brewery’s welcoming, community-oriented character.

Located near the University of Tokyo’s Akamon Gate, the taproom combines a compact brewing facility with a casual place to enjoy beer. Hongo-sanchome Station is within walking distance, making the brewery an easy stop during a visit to the neighborhood.

The brewery has developed beers inspired by Hongo’s local history and culture, including the bitter ale Hongo Pub Rock, pale ale Kaneyasu Kara wa Mugi, IPA Kikusaka Fry Day, Belgian witbier Sa-Ku-Ra-Sa-Ku+, and stout Bungo Paradise. Seasonal and limited releases add variety for returning guests.

Owner and brewer Sam was inspired to open a brewery after experiencing Germany’s neighborhood brewing culture, where small breweries are part of everyday city life. After opening in 2023, Hongo Kikusaka-cho Camos began brewing on site and has continued working toward its goal of connecting Hongo’s people, history, and food culture through beer.

Guests can also bring food purchased from nearby shops and restaurants, making it easy to pair a fresh pint with local takeout after exploring Kikusaka and Hongo. Visitors should check the brewery’s official Instagram for current opening hours and available beers before stopping by.
