Details of the New Tap

At HOP MAN, a beer pub on the second floor in Jengensaka, Chigasaki City, Ise Kadoya Beer’s "Sake Lees Hazy IPA ZAKU Shinryoku" has been newly tapped. The shop introduced the beer as a guest beer on Instagram, making it a title craft beer fans will want to check out.

This beer is a Sake inspired Hazy IPA made with sake lees from Mie’s famed sake "Zaku." According to the brewery’s description, it is based on a series that began in 2020 as an "anniversary commemorative beer," and this time the recipe has been crafted with the fresh greenery season in mind. Because it uses sake lees, it is labeled as a happoshu, and although its style is Hazy IPA, its defining feature is a brew that creates a connection to Japanese sake.

The flavor description highlights ginjo-like aromas reminiscent of pineapple and apple, along with moderate richness, a soft mouthfeel, gentle bitterness, and a slightly dry finish. Its alcohol content is 6.5%, and its IBU is 35. Rather than being a beer that simply pushes strong hop character, it is presented as a Hazy IPA to enjoy for the balance of aroma and drinkability.

HOP MAN is known as a beer pub where people can enjoy craft beer in Chigasaki. Part of the appeal is comparing guest beers as they rotate in and out, and a limited beer with Japanese elements like this one fits the shop’s character well. It is a good choice not only for IPA fans, but also for anyone who wants to try a beer with nuances derived from sake.
