Awashima Soko, a compact beer pub in Daisawa, Setagaya, Tokyo, will open a new keg on September 24: Nomcraft’s Lizard Wizard. The American Pale Ale is brewed with Mosaic hops only, putting the character of the single hop variety at the center of the glass.

The day’s four-tap lineup covers a broad range of styles. Nara Brewing’s DAYLONG is a German Pilsner with a clean, crisp profile. The brewery is also represented by CAMOFLAGE, a Hazy IPA suited to drinkers looking for a softer, hop-forward expression.

For a fruit-driven option, karuizawaQ’s Ann is a Fruit Ale made with apricot. The selection is rounded out by the newly tapped Lizard Wizard, an American Pale Ale focused exclusively on Mosaic hops. Together, the four beers offer an easy progression from refreshing lager to fruit ale and hazy, aromatic hop beers.

Awashima Soko is located on Awashima-dori in Setagaya and is known as a relaxed neighborhood beer pub. Because the interior is compact, the pub recommends visits by small groups. On September 24, it will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; food last orders are at 10:00 p.m. and drinks at 10:30 p.m. Retail beer sales are also scheduled to resume.

The pub is located at 4-34-12 Daisawa, Setagaya, Tokyo. Tap availability and opening hours may change, so checking before visiting is recommended.
