Futako Beer announced the release of √Red, a collaboration beer brewed with CURAFT, Chiba University’s beer project.

√Red is an Irish Red Ale with 4.5% ABV and 26 IBU. According to the brewery’s post, the beer is designed around a garnet-like color inspired by Chiba University’s colors. It is described as offering a toasted, caramel-like aroma, a rounded malt character, and a firm bitterness that gives the beer a satisfying finish.

CURAFT began in 2021 and brings together students, faculty, and staff at Chiba University. The project is notable for involving not only recipe development, but also route planning and label design. In this collaboration, Futako Beer handled the brewing based on a recipe proposed by CURAFT.

Based in Setagaya, Tokyo, Futako Beer operates near Futako-Tamagawa and has built a portfolio that includes core beers, seasonal releases, and collaborative projects. √Red fits that approach well: a local brewery working with an academic beer project to turn an idea into a finished beer.
