Minoh Beer's "Grapefruit Sour" and Kyoto Brewing collaboration "Iza Kakan" newly tapped at Mukuraf
On May 31, the beer pub Mukuraf in Shin-Ohashi, Koto-ku, Tokyo, tapped Minoh Beer’s "Grapefruit Sour" and Hansharo Beer x Kyoto Brewing’s "Iza Kakan." A sour that highlights citrus acidity and a Belgian tea wit layered with New Summer orange and hojicha are now on offer.
On May 31, the beer pub Mukuraf in Shin-Ohashi, Koto-ku, Tokyo, announced two new taps. One is Minoh Beer’s Grapefruit Sour. It uses plenty of grapefruit juice, bringing together juicy fruit-driven acidity and a subtle bitterness in a light, easy-drinking sour ale. The other is Hansharo Beer x Kyoto Brewing’s Iza Kakan. Made with New Summer orange from Shizuoka Prefecture, coriander, and the brewery’s own hojicha, it is a Belgian tea wit with a refreshing character and a lingering depth.
Mukuraf on this day had plenty of open seats, giving the place a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to choose a drink at your own pace. In addition to the new taps, the bottle-beer selection is also strong, with labels such as GreenNeighborHardCider, Uchu Brewing, GROUND TAP BREWING, West Coast Brewing, Collective Arts, and VERTERE on the list. Customers are also welcome to come in just to buy bottle beer, making it a convenient spot for preparing a tasting lineup or picking up drinks to take home.
The food menu is built to complement beer. Dishes suited to the summer heat include Chiba-Katsuura marinated bonito sashimi, conger eel cold soup rice, salsiccia and celery lemon pasta, and spicy eggplant and chicken curry rice. Paired with a sour beer or a citrus-forward brew, it is easy to enjoy the beer-pub style that Morishita is known for. With both new taps and bottles, this is a lineup worth following closely as the early summer season begins.
