A Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Dessert-Like Depth
Taru Taru, a beer pub located in Kawaramachi, Takamatsu, is featuring HELL FLAMES, a collaboration between Far Yeast Brewing’s Off Trail series and BrewDog Roppongi.
The beer is based on a stout aged for 11 months in a wine oak barrel, followed by another 11 months in a bourbon barrel. The blending was finalized with the participation of the BrewDog Roppongi team, adding a collaborative element to the lengthy maturation process.
Its official style is Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Vanilla, Banana, and Roasted Peanuts. The underlying beer brings chocolate, vanilla, whiskey, woody, and berry-like character, while banana and roasted peanut impressions add dessert-like layers reminiscent of chocolate banana and crunchy peanut flavors.
With its high alcohol content and rich pastry-stout profile, HELL FLAMES is a beer to enjoy slowly. At Taru Taru, known as a destination for craft beer in Takamatsu, guests can take time to explore the interplay between barrel character, roasted malt, sweetness, and fruit-like aromatics. Availability may change, so checking with the pub before visiting is recommended.
