The beer pub "Susukino e-ru STAND" in Susukino, Sapporo, has added "Smoked Black Beer" from Taisetsu Local Beer in Asahikawa to its lineup. At the beer pub "Susukino e-ru STAND," located on the first basement floor of the commercial complex "COCONO SUSUKINO" in Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Taisetsu Local Beer "Smoked Black Beer" is being served as a guest beer.
This beer was created in collaboration with Nippon Soy Sauce Industries, a soy sauce maker in Asahikawa. According to the product description, it is brewed by adding the company's "Kikko Nihon Tokkyu Shoyu" and using the Rauchbier method, in which the malt is smoked. The aroma is centered on a smoky impression reminiscent of bacon and a campfire, layered with a distinctive saltiness and depth.
Susukino e-ru STAND is a shop built around Hokkaido craft beer, where visitors can casually enjoy beers that express the character of the region. Among that lineup, this "Smoked Black Beer" stands out as a rare style that combines soy sauce and smoked elements. It is listed as a new item, with a price of 950 yen including tax.
In terms of flavor, it is less of a beer that pushes forward with strong hop aroma and more of one meant to be savored for its toasty aroma and umami. It should appeal not only to fans of dark beers and smoked beers, but also to anyone who wants a drink that pairs well with food. In the center of Sapporo, it is worth noting as a chance to try a distinctive Hokkaido-made collaboration beer.
