Tap Update

At Craft Beer 2 TAPS, a beer pub in Shiomicho, Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Minoh Beer's 'MUGICHA BITTER' has been tapped. True to its name, the shop runs on a two-tap setup, making it a place you'd want to visit in hopes of discovering what comes on next.

What Is 'MUGICHA BITTER'?

'MUGICHA BITTER' is one of Minoh Beer's regularly brewed "tea series" beers. This time it is an English-style bitter made with barley tea, with a color that is a little lighter than a typical bitter. It is designed so that a moderate malt presence is layered with the gently spreading toasty aroma of barley tea.

Specs: Alc. 4.5%, IBU 20, color amber. The hops used are Centennial and Cascade, and the bitterness is kept from taking over, resulting in a beer you can sip thoughtfully. It is said to taste best at 8-12°C, so you can also enjoy the gentle shifts in aroma that come through even while it is still cold.

A Beer That Shows Minoh Beer's Character

Minoh Beer is a brewery known for making beers rooted in classic styles while also bringing out ingredients such as yuzu, koji, and, in this case, barley tea. 'MUGICHA BITTER' is the kind of beer that prioritizes drinkability over flash, and it seems like a brew you could pair with a meal or simply spend time with one glass at a time. As a chance to drink a seasonal Minoh Beer release in Yokosuka, this is a tap opening worth watching.
