Located about a five-minute walk from the station’s east exit, the compact beer bar focuses on Shiokaze Brewlab beers while also offering guest beers and hard cider on tap. Shiokaze Brewlab was founded by Chris Poole, who spent many years brewing at Baird Beer in Shizuoka. After becoming independent, Poole continued brewing as a phantom brewery before opening Shiokaze Brewlab’s own facility in the Chiba Port area. The “Brewlab” name reflects the brewery’s experimental approach: its brewers explore a broad range of ingredients, recipes, styles and influences rather than limiting themselves to one fixed direction.
Shiokaze BrewStand Soga offers a close-to-home way to experience that range. The venue has 18 seats, including counter seating, and is listed as open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from noon to 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
