A new collaboration beer, DAIKANYAMA SORYO BEER, has been created by Bibibi., a craft beer bar in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district, and the Daikanyama Shopping District Association. Kagiya Brewery, based in Saiwai Ward, Kawasaki, handled the brewing.

The beer uses cacao husks from Daikanyama chocolatier LA BASE de Chez Lui as an additional ingredient. Cacao husks are the outer skins of cacao beans, and their use gives this beer an upcycled character while connecting the drink directly to the local chocolate culture.

The beer is a Weizen with an ABV of 4.5%. Its flavor profile was designed to evoke white chocolate, combining the soft, rounded character associated with wheat beer with aromatic notes contributed by the cacao husks. The result offers a distinctive, dessert-like interpretation of a wheat beer.

DAIKANYAMA SORYO BEER began being served on Saturday, September 19, 2026. At Bibibi., guests can enjoy it on draft or in bottles, while participating businesses of the Daikanyama Shopping District Association offer it in bottles. It is a natural choice for a beer stop during a walk through the neighborhood.

For Kagiya Brewery, a brewpub operation in Kawasaki, this collaboration brings together brewing, local retail, and chocolate-making in a single beer. Beyond its flavor, the beer is worth seeking out for the story of how a local by-product was given a new role in craft brewing.
