TOKYO TORCH location to serve a Triple IPA after a MAHOWBREW tap change
CRAFT BEER Market Tokyo Torch announced in a notice dated March 22, 2026 that it had changed the guest beer it would tap. Instead of the scheduled peated Wee Heavy, the shop said it would serve MAHOWBREW's Triple IPA, "Hammer Crushed Brain."
CRAFT BEER Market Tokyo Torch (1F, Tokiwa-bashi Tower, Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) announced a change in the guest beer being served in an Instagram post.
It had originally planned to tap Okinawa's MAHOWBREW "Depth of Muspelheim" (a Wee Heavy style brewed with peated malt), but due to a mix-up, the beer that arrived was the same brewery's "Hammer Crushed Brain." Out of consideration for quality, the shop decided to serve the beer that actually arrived as is, and the message carefully includes an apology to customers who had been looking forward to the original beer.
The beer being served, "Hammer Crushed Brain," is a Triple IPA. The post also notes that it was inspired in part by Isekadoya Brewery's "Brain-Melting Ultra Heaven," and that it was designed around the new hop variety "Crash." For IPA fans looking for heft in a high-alcohol beer and a strong hop character, this is a glass not to miss.
The shop is a beer pub easily accessible in the Tokyo Station and Otemachi area. Its concept pairs craft beer with spicy food, making it suitable for everyday visits as well as welcome and farewell parties. This time the news is a "change of plan," but the notice conveyed a serving approach that respects the brewery's intent and the condition of the beer. From a comparison standpoint, it should be especially interesting to sip while keeping in mind the contrast between a peat-driven malt-forward style and a hop-driven Triple IPA.
