An annual collaboration, KOMPAS

Minoh Beer has introduced KOMPAS, its collaboration beer with Kamakura-based Yorocco Beer. The post says the beer was shown in the brewing stage last month and has now finished fermentation and maturation. Based in Minoh City, Osaka, Minoh Beer has long described its approach as making beers people can enjoy every day.

KOMPAS is part of an ongoing exchange between the two breweries. In earlier release notes for the same collaboration, Minoh described it as the counterpart to Yorocco’s PLUMBON, brewed in Minoh after the teams visit each other’s brewery year by year. The relationship goes back to the transfer of Minoh’s former brewing equipment to Yorocco, and that connection still shapes the collaboration today.

Those earlier release notes described KOMPAS as a fruit saison brewed with saison yeast and a generous amount of plums from Hachiki Farm in Wakayama. The beer was presented as having a light malt body, gentle plum acidity, layered saison aromatics, and a rounded finish built through fermentation and maturation.

That background helps explain why the collaboration keeps returning: it is not just a one-off seasonal, but a beer that reflects the conversation between two breweries. For Minoh Beer, which focuses on approachable daily-drinking beer while also exploring seasonal styles, KOMPAS fits naturally into the lineup as a collaboration defined by exchange as much as by recipe.
