HopGear Brewing is a brewery based in Honjo, Saitama Prefecture, that produces distinctive ales. According to its official website, it began brewing after obtaining a low-malt beer production license in March 2021, and it operates under the motto, "From Honjo City to the world of beer."

The new product announced on Instagram this time is "HopGear Brown Ale Ver:1.4.12." The post says it will be released on Friday, April 10, and explains that the beer has been finished lightly with drinkability in mind while still allowing the malt-derived toastiness to come through. While bringing the presence of malt to the forefront in true brown ale fashion, the design seems aimed at avoiding anything too heavy.

HopGear Brewing has developed a wide lineup that includes Kölsch, Saison, IPA, Belgian Wit, coffee beer, and fruit beer made with local strawberries. By adding a new brown ale to that range, the brewery is expanding its already varied character with another option that lets drinkers enjoy the aroma of malt.

Around the release date, beyond the beer's flavor itself, it will also be interesting to see at what temperature its aromas open up and what kinds of food pairings bring out its appeal. As a potential new staple from HopGear Brewing, this is a beer worth watching on launch day.
