KARAKURI -Craft Beer & Oden & Sake-, a beer pub in Kanda, Tokyo, is opening a keg of Fresh Hop Africa Pale Ale (Nitro) from Shiga Kogen Beer in Nagano.
The beer will be available on October 1, during the pub’s 5:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. service. Food last orders are at 10:00 p.m., with some fried dishes ending at 9:30 p.m.; drink last orders are at 10:30 p.m.
Fresh Hop Africa Pale Ale is a fresh-hop version of the brewery’s popular Africa Pale Ale. It uses Cascade and Vista hops harvested on the day of brewing, bringing a vivid, fresh hop character. KARAKURI describes grapefruit-like citrus notes, a subtle melon-like fruitiness, and a clean, dry finish.
This release is the real ale version served on nitrogen gas, offering a softer texture and a distinctive drinking experience compared with a standard draft pour. A regular version is also expected to be tapped at a later date.
KARAKURI specializes in craft beer, sake, kanzake, and natural wine, alongside creative dishes centered on oden. Its relaxed, homey atmosphere makes it a natural setting for pairing the hop-forward ale with food. The venue also operates a bottle shop, offering takeout bottles and cans as well as growler-style takeout of draft beer, sake, and wine.
For beer lovers in Kanda, this is an opportunity to enjoy a seasonal fresh-hop ale in a rare nitrogen-served format.
