Sakata Traditional Beer to Debut at Hanagasa Matsuri, Aug. 5-7
On August 4, Sakata Traditional Beer announced on Instagram that it will set up a booth at Hanagasa Matsuri for the first time this year. The brewery will be open for three days, August 5-7, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the former Yoshii Hospital site, near the parade start point.
Sakata Traditional Beer said in an August 4 Instagram post that it will make its first appearance at Hanagasa Matsuri, one of Yamagata’s signature summer festivals. Dates: August 5-7. Hours: 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Location: the former Yoshii Hospital site, which the post identifies as the parade start area. The post also notes that a map is included in the second image.
The brewery is based in Sakata, Yamagata, and makes beer at its brewery on the grounds of the Sakata factory site. Its address is 4-8-2 Kyoda, Sakata City, and it also operates direct sales. Bringing beer from its home base in Sakata to a major local festival is a straightforward extension of that community-oriented setup.
Hanagasa Matsuri is known for the energy of the dancers and the crowd, making it one of the clearest summer events in Yamagata’s festival calendar. Sakata Traditional Beer’s first booth at the festival adds a local craft beer option to the mix. According to the post, plenty of beer will be prepared for visitors, giving festivalgoers a chance to enjoy a drink alongside the parade atmosphere.
