A new peach weizen on tap
HOP MAN, a beer pub in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, has announced the tapping of Yatsugatake Beer Touchdown Yamanashi Peach Weizen.
The beer is based on the brewery’s regular ROCK Weizen. During the traditional German brewing process known as kräusening—when reserved wort is added to young beer before secondary fermentation—the brewery also added 100% white peach juice from Fuefuki, Yamanashi. Fermentation was used to bring out the peach’s fresh aroma and flavor.
The result combines the soft, fruity character expected from a weizen with gentle peach sweetness and a subtle acidity. The brewery selected the newer hop variety HBC 1019, known for aromas reminiscent of stone fruit such as peach as well as citrus, adding another layer of fruit character.
Its crisp, clean mouthfeel is designed for easy drinking, making it a natural choice for a warm day. Rather than relying only on sweetness, the beer balances peach aroma with weizen fruitiness and a light tart edge.
Located on the second floor of Sunrize Shonan in Chigasaki’s Jummaizaka district, HOP MAN is a beer pub where guests can explore a rotating selection of craft beers on tap. The new peach weizen offers a seasonal way to enjoy both the brewery’s wheat-beer foundation and the character of Yamanashi peaches. Availability may change, so check with the pub before visiting.
