Monterey Brewing, a brewery in Seba, Shiojiri City, Nagano, highlighted the 36th Monterey Jazz Festival in Noto on Instagram. The festival will be held on July 25, 2026 at Noto Historical Park in Nanao, Ishikawa, with gates opening at 3:00 p.m. and the program starting at 4:00 p.m. The event will go ahead rain or shine. Advance tickets are priced at 7,000 yen, while same-day admission is 8,500 yen. High school and university students can purchase same-day tickets for 2,000 yen, and children in junior high school or younger may attend free with a guardian.

The festival began in 1989 as a cultural exchange between Monterey, California, and the Wakura Onsen Tourism Association in Nanao. It remains the only event outside Monterey that is allowed to use the Monterey Jazz Festival name. In the years after the Noto Peninsula earthquake, the festival has carried even greater meaning as a place for music, community, and regional recovery.

Monterey Brewing builds its beers around local ingredients and regional character. Its lineup includes a fruit ale made with Shinshu apples, a Belgian-style beer featuring sansho pepper and citrus, and an IPA brewed with beets. That focus on place and flavor makes the brewery's attention to a community-rooted jazz festival feel consistent rather than incidental. Both are rooted in the idea that local culture becomes stronger when it is shared.
