Riot Beer Katsunuma Base, based in Koshu City, Yamanashi, announced on Instagram that it will be participating in the "Oedo Beer Festival" held in Nakano starting May 27. Yamanashi-based Riot Beer Katsunuma Base, headquartered in Koshu City, announced on Instagram that it will have a booth at the Oedo Beer Festival in Tokyo's Nakano. According to the post, the brewery will be there for five days, from May 27 to May 31. The venue is the Nakano Shikinomori Park event area, making it an urban event that beer fans in Tokyo can easily stop by.
The post also announced that the brewery will be serving "Hyuganatsu Pilsner for Sagamiono Sakeota's anniversary" as an advance tap at the venue. A pilsner made with "Hyuganatsu," a citrus fruit with a bright, aromatic character, is likely to draw attention as a style well suited to the warmer season ahead. From the wording of the post, it seems the brewery's aim is not just to sell beer, but to give visitors something special to enjoy through an event-exclusive pour.
The schedule for the Oedo Beer Festival is 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from May 27 to 29, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on May 30, and 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on May 31. With hours spanning weekday evenings through weekend daytime, it is set up to be easy to drop by after work or for a weekend daytime beer.
With a brewery based in Katsunuma taking part in a major event in central Tokyo, this could also be a chance for more people to discover Yamanashi craft beer. Koshu City is strongly associated with grapes and wine, but as a craft beer producer coming out of the area, Riot Beer Katsunuma Base is a brewery whose moves are worth keeping an eye on.
