A New Craft Beer Hub Arrives in Wake Town on December 12
According to information announced on Hare no Kuni Brewery's official website, its directly operated "BEER STAND & SHOP" is scheduled to begin business on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 12:00 to 20:00. The location is 636-4 Fukutomi, Wake Town, Wake District, Okayama Prefecture, where the brewery is based, and it will be a place where visitors can experience the company's policy of "bringing a new world of beer from Wake."
Eight Beers on the Opening Menu
The beer lineup is the part of the opening announcement that deserves special attention. At present, due to production license restrictions, beer brewed in Wake Town will not yet be available, but on the first day the shop plans to offer a total of eight varieties:
- Four domestic beers carefully selected by the head brewer
- Four beers the head brewer has brewed in Tottori
Rather than "we still can't drink local beer," this opening feels more like a chance to taste the brewing team's experience first.
What This Opening Means in the Context of Hare no Kuni Brewery
The brewery emphasizes beer making centered on a "dry finish" suited to the climate of Wake Town in Okayama, which enjoys long hours of sunshine, while also incorporating local grains and fruit. It is run by a brewer born in Wake and his wife, and drawing on experience at multiple breweries, their style combines local character with highly reproducible brewing techniques.
The opening of BEER STAND & SHOP is a phase in which that philosophy is being released in a form people can actually drink. In the official announcement, the brewery also stated that after obtaining its brewing license, it will gradually switch the beers on offer to ones brewed in Wake Town. On opening day, it may be worthwhile to first check the head brewer's current direction and then follow the transition to in-house brewing, allowing this brewery's evolution to be appreciated in fuller detail.
