NEIGHBOR, a beer pub in Nogata, Nakano, Tokyo, has added Himitsu Beer’s “VS / Soba Ale” to its taps. The beer commemorates the second anniversary of SUBA, a popular Shibuya restaurant, and was inspired by SUBA’s sudachi, fig and soba dish.

The 6.5% farmhouse beer combines aromas reminiscent of fig, berries and peach with refreshing sudachi citrus. Savory dashi notes and a distinct soba character follow, making it an unusual beer designed to pair well with food. NEIGHBOR notes that draft availability is limited, making this a noteworthy pour for fans of experimental farmhouse ales.

The tap list also features Ushitora Brewery’s “#996 Bohemian Pilsner” at 5%; Green Neighbors Hard Cider’s “CLEAR YELLOW” and “CLEAR RED” Modern Ciders at 7%; NUDE BEER’s “KOUN / Fruits Ale w/ Spices” at 5%; Bighand Bros.Beer’s “Chiastolite / Dark Mild” at 3.3%; NOMCRAFT BREWING’s “Dandy Crocodile / American IPA” at 7%; and NORTHERN BREW’s “ABIRA OATS HAZY / Hazy IPA” at 6%.

The range covers crisp pilsner, fruit-forward and spiced styles, a lightly alcoholic dark mild, hop-driven IPA and two hard ciders. Recommended food pairings include fig salami, bonito carpaccio with plum-soy gelée, oyster and horse-meat tartare with sansho, and seafood linguine with tomato sauce. NEIGHBOR is located at J-ARC Nogata 1F, 6-30-26 Nogata, Nakano, Tokyo.
