Kakuchi Asakura in Higashi-Tenbincho, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, is a beer pub with five draft taps inside a space renovated from a 100-year-old Kyoto townhouse. Open from noon, it is appealing because it is easy to use whether you want just one drink standing at the counter or want to compare several beers side by side. The pub centers on sake and craft beer, offering selections chosen by the owner.
This week's featured brewery in "Pick up Brewery" is Yellow Beer Works (Fukushima). During the event period, the tap fee is 0 yen, and the following four beers are on offer:
- Tank Girl / Hazy DIPA / ABV 8.0%
Smooth on the palate, with a lime note layered into its juiciness.
- DRINK MEWC PILS ver. / WC Pilsner / ABV 5.0%
Characterized by an aroma reminiscent of white grapes and the clean maltiness typical of a lager.
- Yu-BP / Champagne Lager / ABV 5.0%
Citrus and tropical aromas are joined by accents like fresh green grass.
- MILK& / Milk Smoothie Sour Ale / ABV 4.0%
A finish with fruit juice-like richness and milky character, made with mango puree, Fukushima peach puree, and ice cream.
Kakuchi Asakura is a place where you can sample distinctive taps little by little in the calm atmosphere of a Kyoto townhouse. Bottles and cans you like can be purchased to take home as they are, so you can connect your drink in the pub with takeaway enjoyment. Yellow Beer Works is also scheduled to participate in the "Kometomugi Festival in Kyoto 2026" on June 28, and its presence in Kyoto will continue to be worth watching.
