A first collaboration connecting Yokohama and Morioka

Yokohama Beer, based in Yokohama, Kanagawa, has collaborated with Baeren Brewery in Morioka, Iwate, for the first time to create “Yell.” The name combines “Yell,” meaning a cheer of support, with “Ale,” the beer style term. The beer was developed for everyone connected to Yokohama Marathon 2026—not only the runners, but also spectators and the people supporting the race.

The two breweries had already built a relationship over several years. Running became a natural theme for the collaboration, as members of both breweries participate in marathon events in each other’s regions. The project brings together their shared interest in beer, running, and the human connections created around both.

A light Ordinary Bitter with citrus character

“Yell” is an Ordinary Bitter, a beer style originating in Britain. It has an alcohol content of 3.5% ABV and 35 IBU. The hop bill includes East Kent Goldings, Cascade, Citral, and Centennial, together with fresh Centennial and Crystal hops grown by Baeren Brewery.

The result is a refreshing beer with citrus and orange-like aromas, gentle bitterness, and a light, easy-drinking body. Despite its modest alcohol level, it retains a rich malt character, making it suitable for a post-race toast as well as a casual drink with friends. It is available in 350ml cans and draft formats of 10 and 20 liters.

Sales began on October 25 at Yokohama Beer’s directly operated venues and locations including the Yokohama Marathon Festa 2026 site, where both draft pours and cans for takeaway were offered.

Founded in 1999, Yokohama Beer is guided by a mission to bring excitement to life in Yokohama through beer that connects people. Its collaboration with Baeren Brewery, known for respecting traditional European brewing culture, gives “Yell” a clear sense of place: a beer linking two breweries, two cities, and the many people who make a race—and a shared toast—possible.
