Session's Brewery Hiroshima is introducing its new release 'Teara,' which is currently being pre-released at the taproom.

Tea beer with black tea

According to the post, 'Teara' is a tea beer made with black tea. It was brewed with hints on how to use the tea leaves from 'Hiro's mom,' who is also a tea teacher, and the way the ingredients are assembled shows careful thought. The malt bill centers on pale malt and Maris Otter, with amber and crystal malts used in a well-balanced way. Noble hops were chosen, and the bitterness is kept restrained.

Balancing aroma and drinkability

On the first sip, the aroma of black tea rises gently, and as you keep drinking, the beer-like aftertaste of barley quietly expands. The design leaves a subtle astringency from the tea while giving the mouthfeel a gentle richness and roundness, making it feel geared more toward easy drinkability than flashiness. It should pair well with food and is the kind of beer that naturally keeps the glass moving.

Fresh from the brewpub

Session's Brewery Hiroshima is a brewpub in Tokaimachi, Naka Ward, Hiroshima City. Its big appeal is being able to taste the brewery's own beer on the spot, and you can also get an early look at pre-release items like this one. Feeling the atmosphere of the brewery up close while drinking a beer whose intent comes through in the brew is a pleasure unique to a brewpub.

If you're a beer lover, this is the kind of beer you'd want to try fresh, to see how clearly it expresses its aroma. At Session's Brewery Hiroshima, the new release that brings out the nuances of black tea is quietly making its presence felt inside the Tokaimachi taproom.
