Shonan Beer operates its brewery direct shop, Chikashitsu, on the grounds of Kumazawa Shuzo in Kagawa, Chigasaki, Kanagawa. The underground shop is known as a calm place to browse the brewery's drinks carefully.
The new release is `FRESH HOP IPA`, scheduled for September 2. It is a 4.5% fresh hop ale made with American pellet hops including Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado, plus whole hops from Yosano, Kyoto: Cascade and Columbus. The brewery uses the hops separately during the boil and in the dry-hop tank to build aroma.
The result is a beer designed around fresh, green, grassy hop character, which fits Shonan Beer's unfiltered, unpasteurized house style. Since Chikashitsu carries both new releases and regular beers, it is a practical stop for drinkers who want to compare Shonan Beer bottles on site.
