OHLOY Brewing, the brewery behind the brewpub OHLOY STORE in Uchimachi, Takamatsu, has introduced its first batch beer, Tempest. The beer is a Saison at 4.5% ABV, brewed with Citra and Merkur hops and fermented with the same Saison yeast used in earlier work.

The recipe was built to keep variables to a minimum, making it suitable as a test batch to check the condition and quirks of the new brewery setup. Even so, the finished beer is described as more than just a technical trial: it has a clean, well-balanced profile with a gentle character and a bright edge.

The name “Tempest” also carries meaning. It combines the idea of a test with the initials of Mind, People, and Environment, suggesting a brewery that is thinking beyond the glass. For a brewpub like OHLOY STORE, that context matters. It is not only a place to drink beer, but also a place to watch a local brewery’s identity take shape.

It is also worth remembering Yoreh, the first beer from OHLOY Brewing. Tempest follows that original release and marks the next step in the brewery’s story in Takamatsu.
