The directly operated beer pub to stop by after a soak in Dogo Onsen

Dogo Beer Hall is the directly operated beer pub where you can taste Minakuchi Shuzo's beer just as it is in the Dogo Onsen area. While it sits in the heart of the sightseeing district, it has an unpretentious atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy a drink, making it an easy stop after a bath. Its appeal lies in the peace of mind that comes with a brewery-run establishment and the close distance that lets you see the maker's face.

Beers available

The regular Dogo Beer lineup includes Kölsch (Botchan Beer), Alt (Madonna Beer), Stout (Soseki Beer), Weizen (Nobosan Beer), and Yua-gari IPA. Kölsch has a crisp finish, Alt has the depth of caramel malt, Stout has the roasty aroma of roasted malt, and Weizen has the softness that comes from wheat. Yua-gari IPA is characterized by its bright aroma and clean bitterness. There are also seasonal limited-edition beers, and the lineup changes depending on when you visit, which is part of the fun.

Paired with the brewery tour

As part of related events, Dogo Beer factory tours are held from May to October. The tour guides you through Minakuchi Shuzo's main house and the Dogo Beer factory, and after the tour you can enjoy a tasting at Dogo Ichi-e. The tour takes about 40 minutes and costs 1,000 yen (tax included). A glass poured after learning the background of how it is made changes the way you take in even the aroma and bitterness. Combining a meal at Dogo Beer Hall with the brewery tour experience makes the character of Dogo Beer come into clearer focus.
