Pre-release pour

Golden Garden in Hiroshima’s Shintenchi area is a PUB & KITCHEN centered on WORLD BEER. It offers eight draft beers and more than 100 bottled beers, and its house-brewed HIROSHIMA NEIGHBORLY BREWING drafts are part of the daily happy hour through 7 p.m.

In the Instagram post dated Aug. 10, the bar announced a limited pre-release of Rauchbock ahead of Daisen G Beer’s tap takeover on Aug. 22-23. The beer is described as using a high amount of smoked malt, making it a smoky, malt-forward pour that fits a slower pace inside the cool dining room.

The event itself will feature award-winning beers, and brewer Hideo is scheduled to visit on both days. Golden Garden also started selling a limited run of 50 draft-beer punch cards, which can be used on the event days as well.

Food is part of the draw too. The post lists chilled oden, smoked macaroni salad, fried horse mackerel fillet, goya champuru, smoked pork tongue ham, and chicken wing butter chicken curry. It is a straightforward setup for pairing smoky, fuller-bodied beer with savory food rather than treating the takeover as a one-note tasting event.
