Izumo Country Matsue Brewing

Have you heard of Nakaumi? It’s a brackish lake between Shimane and Tottori, and on an island in it called Ejima there’s a brewery. It’s called Izumo Country Matsue Brewing.

Have you heard of Beta Fumi-zaka? It’s the steep Eshima Ohashi Bridge that became famous in a Daihatsu commercial, and the brewery is just across that bridge. It’s in the Yatsuka-cho area of Matsue City.

This area is known for peony cultivation and Korean ginseng. Brewing beer in such a unique environment, on an island floating in a lake, gives it a one-of-a-kind character.

They also have a booth at the craft beer festival held at Matsue Castle, and they’re starting to attract attention among beer fans in the San'in region. Since it’s still a brand-new brewery with very little information online, it’ll be exciting to see what kind of beers they come up with next.
