What kind of brewery is Hiyoshi Mountain House Brewery?
Hop BroIt's about an hour by car from central Kyoto, and in the mountains of Nantan City there's this place called Hiyoshi Forest Resort Yamanoie. It's a resort facility with camping and hot springs, but it actually has a beer brewery on the premises.

Hop BroIt's called the Yamanoie Brewery, and they started selling beer in 2024. What's more, this place has natural hot springs flowing directly from the source.

Hop BroThey make a beer called Sangetsu IPA. Altogether they brew about three kinds of craft beer, and you can drink them on tap too.

Hop BroAt the dining spot inside the main building, called Yamanoutage Roman Shokudo, they serve freshly brewed beer during dinner time. It's paired with dishes made from local ingredients in a forest-surrounded setting.

Hop BroIt's a completely different approach from breweries in central Kyoto. I think what makes this place unique is that you can enjoy the whole experience as a package: camping, soaking in the hot springs, and tasting freshly made beer in the middle of the forest.
MugiSo it's not a place you go just to drink beer, but a place you go to experience something! I'd love to visit, even if I have to cross the mountains to get there!
